Headache & Hypotension
Nursing consideration:
- Used in treatment of CHF, atrial fibrillation, flutter or tachycardia, cardiogenic shock
- check pulse if less than 60 beats per minute (adult) or 90 beats per minute (infant), hold the med and contact clinician
- PO: with or without food; may crush tablets and mix with food/fluids
- Do not open, chew, crush capsule
- Contact physician if loss of appetite, lower stomach pain, diarrhea, weakness, drowsiness, headache, blurred or yellow vision, rash, depression
- Eat a sodium-restricted and potassium-rich (bananas, orange juice) diet to keep potassium level normal
- Avoid OTC meds and herbals, many adverse interactions may occur
